In yet another shooting incident in the USA, a man shot seven police officials in South Carolina when they came to execute a search warrant to his house around 4pm on Wednesday. The incident left an official killed and several injured. The police had to use a bullet-proof vehicle to rescue the wounded police officers from the crime scene.
Later, the man who was identified as Fred Hopkins, aged 74, a Vietnam War veteran also held children hostage for two hours Wednesday. But they were released later when the suspect was finally taken into custody. The warrant involved an accusation on a 27 year old man who allegedly involved in sexual assault on a foster kid in the house.
The slained police officer was identified as Carraway, 52, of Darlington. He had recently celebrated his 30 years of service in the police department. Carraway was declared brought dead by the local hospital. Speaking to media persons, the police officials said that it is still unclear why Hopkins had to open fire when the officials had come to his house to serve the warrant.
Among the wounded, a police official is learnt to have been in critical condition while the condition of three others is yet to be known.
