Telangana Jagruthi President and MP K Kavitha shot off a letter to Google requesting the management to feature Telangana official festival - Batukamma as a Google Doodle this year.
In a letter to Rajan Anandan, Managing Director, Google India, Kavitha said that "I wanted to request you to kindly feature Batukamma as a Google doodle this year as it is festival of great cultural relevance. First, it is a women-led festival which celebrates the spirit of women unity and freedom and allows them to rejoice in public space freely,"
Secondly, it is a festival of flowers and cherishes the ethos of environmental conservation and peace, she said finally, it is a symbol of the cultural renaissance that was achieved through a peaceful movement, an awakening of people's pride in their indigenous traditions.
kavitha said in the letter, 'The festival takes place between October 9 and 17, I would be most pleased and thankful if could kindly give it expression through a google doodle feature.'
