In a unique incident, a beer lover named Suryanarayana from Jagityal, Telangana filed a complaint over the non-supply of his favourite Kingfisher beer. He requested the local authorities to intervene and ensure that the popular beer brand is served once again at all the bar and restaurants.
In his complaint, Suryanarayana alleged that liquor shop owners in Jagityal formed a syndicate and stopped serving the Kingfisher beer for the last few years. He claimed that Kingfisher beer is very popular among beer lovers in the region and that the state government will earn several crores by selling it.
Suryanarayana further said that by not selling the Kingfisher beer, all the bar and restaurants are violating the Article 19 of the Indian Constitution which allows a customer to freely purchase whatever he wants. He also alleged that all the bar and restaurants in Jagityal have been serving cheap and local made beer.
Surprisingly, Suryanarayana filed his complaint during the recent Prajavani program, a government platform for people's grievances redressal. The local authorities have transferred Suryanarayana's complaint to the Excise Department.
