When the boss of Paytm, Vijay Shekhar first tweeted about his Rs 10,000 donation to the Kerala floods through app, the young billionaire was mocked and trolled heavily by the netizens.
Taking a strong objection to confirmation screenshot posted by Vijay, wherein the donation of Rs 10,000 has been made to Kerala CM relief fund, Twitter users called it a 'publicity stunt' and criticized the boss of Pay TM for measly donation. Although Vijay deleted his tweet, Pay TM received a massive 30 Crores rupees from close to 12 lakh users in less than 4 days.
While revealing about it, the official twitter handle of Paytm posted: 'We are happy to share that we crossed INR 30 Crore in contributions in 4 days, from over 12 lakh Paytm users for #KeralaFloodRelief.' The India's leading digital wallet company also clarified that donation made towards this cause is exempted from 'transaction fees'.
Vijay, who got trolled for posting a snip of his donation, is now being appreciated for all the phenomenal work of his brainchild-Paytm. Apart from Paytm, other tech apps like Google, Zomato and Amazon India are doing their part to help people of Kerala. While Google enabled 'Person Finder' to locate the missing person, food delivery app Zomato has been donating eatables.
