Attack On Doctors: Centre Brings Ordinance

The Corona virus is on the rise in the country and the cases count has crossed 20,000 mark. This is mainly due to lack of support from public. People with Corona symptoms are being traced and when doctors have approached them, they were being attack. In the recent times, many such incidents have reported in several states.

In this view, the doctors association have threatened the government to take stringent action against those attackers, if not would boycott the services. They also announced as Black Day on April 23rd. The union cabinet which met today, discussed about this, has come up with an ordinance that would protect the doctors and punish the attackers.

As per the ordinance, the people who attack doctors will be penalized from Rs one lakh to five lakh. Also the case would be investigated in 30 days and justice will be brought within a year. Depending upon the severity of the attack, the culprits will be jailed for upto seven years and also such crime will now be non-bailable.

The Centre has also hiked the insurance of health care and Asha workers. Union minister Prakash Javadekar brief the media and said the Ordinance will be sent to the President of India for approval and will be brought into implementation in a day or two.
