Lockdown: UP CM Yogi Can't Be At Father's Funeral

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht passed away at AIIMS in Delhi, this morning. He received the news during his address to the officials about Lockdown and coronavirus crisis, but he stood up only after the meeting is over. The CM expressed his grief on his father passing away but said he could not attend the funeral due to the lockdown situation.

Yogi Adityanath said he would not be able to attend the last rites ceremony that is going to be held tomorrow due to the lockdown and his responsibilities in the combat against the coronavirus. In his statement, Yogi Adityanath said he wanted to join the final moments but could not due to his responsibility of 23 crore people in the state amid coronavirus crisis. He appealed to his mother and relatives to follow the lockdown protocol while attending the funeral and said he will visit them after the lockdown ends.

Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht was admitted to hospital in March due to Kidney ailment. He was 71. His body is taken to his village in Pauri district of Uttarakhand. Several leaders like Smriti Irani, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kamal Nath, Akhilesh Yadav and others expressed their condolences to Yogi Adityanath.

Uttar Pradesh so far had 959 coronavirus cases and 17 of then dies. There are more than 17,000 cases recorded in India and more than 500 died due to it so far.
