COVID-19: Ratan Tata and Tata Sons announced Rs 1500 crore Donation

Celebrities, famous personalities, politicians, businessmen and many bigwigs have been donating money and doing their bit for the coronavirus relief efforts and for PM funds. Today, Ratan Tata has joined the league as he committed to donate Rs 500 crore to acquire protective equipment for frontline workers, respiratory systems for treatment of increasing cases and testing kits in the fight against COVID-19.

On the same, Mr Tata shared a post showing how Tata Trusts and the group companies will help the country in battling COVID-19. 'The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time,' Ratan Tata tweeted. Soon after his announcement, Chairman of Tata Sons N. Chandrasekharan, announced an additional Rs. 1000 Crores in support towards COVID-19.

'We will work together with the Tata Trusts and our Chairman Emeritus Mr Tata and would be fully supporting their initiatives, and work in a collaborative manner to bring the full expertise of the group. In addition to the initiatives articulated by Tata Trusts, we are also bringing in the ventilators necessary and are gearing up to also manufacture the same soon in India,' he said in a statement. He further added, 'The country is facing an unprecedented situation and crisis. All of us would have to do whatever it takes to alleviate and enhance the quality of lives of the communities we serve.'

With Rs 1500 crores going into the support of the novel virus fightback, Ratan Tata and the company has been receiving huge accolades. Yesterday, Tata was also seen donating free food to all government doctors and midwives, sponsored by Taj group of hotels. Ratan Tata has once again proved to be a man with a golden heart!
