Nirbhaya Rape: 'I was not even in Delhi on that day'

Mukesh Singh, the driver of the bus, on which Nirbhaya was brutally raped on 16 Dec 2012, said in 2015's Leslee Udwin's documentary that he was involved in the rape and committed the crime. After a detailed articulation of his bad deeds, Mukesh Singh argues now that he wasn't in the crime spot on 16 Dec, when Nirbhaya was raped and thrown out of the running bus.

On Tuesday, a Delhi court reserved its order on a plea filed by Mukesh Singh, one of the four death row convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case and he strongly fought back that he wasn't in Delhi during that fateful night. He also added that he was tortured in Tihar Jail. The new twist came in after his plea to file a fresh curative petition was dismissed by the SC. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana dismissed Singh's plea claiming he was not in Delhi on the day of the incident

Mukesh's lawyer ML Sharma filed a fresh plea in the court today and Mukesh had argued that he was arrested from Rajasthan on December 17, 2012, that is one day after the crime. The four convicts, including Mukesh, are scheduled to be hanged at 5:30 AM on March 20 in Tihar Jail. After deferring thrice and all the postponements of the execution since January 22, the latest date was given by a Delhi court earlier this month after President Ram Nath Kovind rejected the mercy petition of Pawan, another convict.

Moreover, another silly attempt made in order to delay the execution shows three of the convicts-Akshay, Pawan and Vinay-on Monday approaching the International Court of Justice (ICJ). It was witnessed just hours after the Supreme Court dismissed Mukesh's petition.
