Courting a controversy, Gujarat Assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi said both chief architect of Indian constitution, BR Ambedkar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi belong to Brahmin community. This is not all. Rajendra went onto describe Lord Krishna as an "OBC".
Rajendra made aforementioned comments while speaking at a 'Mega Brahmin Business Summit; in Gandhinagar of Gujarat. "I've no hesitation in saying that Ambedkar was a Brahmin. His surname, Ambedkar, a Brahmin surname, was given by his teacher, a Brahmin. It is not wrong to call a learned person a Brahmin. In that context, I'll say Modiji is also a Brahmin," Rajeev was quouted as saying.
Triggering a row further, Trivedi said Lord Krishna was made God by Maharshi Sandipani and Lord Rama was made God by Rushis. He said Lord Krishna as an "OBC" and Lord Rama as "Kshatriya". Trivedi said Brahmin community has never been "power hungry" and had played pivotal role in the success of kings such as Chandragupta Maurya, and of Gods such as Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
