NRI Student Stabbed In Canada

A 23-year-old Indian student named Rachel Albert has reportedly been stabbed by an Asian man in Toronto on Thursday. The NRI, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, is in a very critical condition and her family who is trying to reach Toronto is stuck with the paperwork.

Rachel went to Toronto in order to pursue her Masters. The girl's father said that their daughter is in a critical condition and they are filling the online forms for the visa. However, her parents have been assured that they will be provided with a visa on an emergency basis. 'We just want to go and be next to her as soon as we can,' her father said.

Rachel's elder sister Rebecca said, "As of now she is in the critical care unit and is hemodynamically stable. Her condition, however, is still critical." As soon as the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar learnt the news for Rebecca’ family members, he expressed his deep concern and directed MEA officials to arrange a visa for the family. "Deeply shocked to learn of the serious attack on Rachel Albert, an Indian student in Toronto, Canada. I am asking MEA officials to help with her family's visa." Jaishankar tweeted.

Rachel's sister Rebecca said that the family has spoken to the external affairs minister. "He told me that he has done his best. He needs our application number and they can provide us with the Visas. Now, the problem lies in getting the application number itself," Rebecca said.
