'Excuse me, it's my money': Deepika

In just a few days, Deepika Padukone's most-awaited film Chhapaak will hit the big screens and fans are literally waiting to experience this biographical drama on the life of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Releasing on Jan 10, 2020, the trailer and the poster have already produced shuddering among the audience.

Yesterday, the title track of the film has been launch in an event and Deepika turned emotional along with Laxmi when they heard the song, especially when it was sung live by Shankar Mahadevan. As we know, Deepika has also bankrolled Chhapaak and on this, a reporter asked her if her husband Ranveer Singh has also invested the money for the film. The actress was quick to reply and strongly clarified that it was her money which she invested in Chhapaak.

This is the first film for Deepika to produce and the unexpected question irked her. She said, "Excuse me, it is my money." Of course, the money is all of her hard work and the question made the people in the room laugh out loud. Deepika is also simultaneously co-producing Ranveer Singh's 83, a biopic on Kapil Dev.

Chhapaak is being directed by Meghna Gulzar and it was indeed profound to see three powerful ladies - Deepika, Laxmi and Meghna making a film on a sensitive yet mind-changing topic. Chhapaak, the powerful portrait on self-acceptance and social stigma, will have a clash with Ajay Devgn and Kajol's period drama Tanhaji: The unsung warrior on Jan 10
