Fire accident in New Delhi; 40 people died

A major fire broke out on Sunday early morning  at a factory in Anaj Mandi, New Delhi. At least 40 people died and more than 50 are reportedly injured in this unfortunate incident which also caused a huge property loss. The fire tenders and fire department officials have reached the site to bring the flames under control. Already, 56 people who're struck in flames were rescued and casualties are expected to rise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have expressed shock at the incident and described it as 'unfortunate' and 'horrific'. They have stepped in and ordered fire department officials to quicken the rescue operation and assured all possible assistance to them.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sunil Chaudhary, who has reviewed the situation, said that a factory was in function in that building. 'The staff of the factory were sleeping in the building when fire broke out and the reasons what caused the fire are still being investigated. Officials are also estimating the property loss,' he added.
