Prize Of Honesty: 53rd Transfer For an IAS Officer

An IAS officer, Ashok Khemka has been shockingly transferred 53 times in his 28 years of service and the latest transfer made Khemka tweet strongly saying that the reward for honesty is humiliation. It is reported that the 1991-batch Ashok Khemka has been issued transfer order by the Haryana government on Wednesday and he was one among fourteen IAS officers to do so.

"Phir tabadla. Same thing again. Constitution Day was celebrated yesterday. Today, the orders and rules of the Supreme Court were violated yet again. Some will be pleased," Khemka tweeted. He also added that "The reward for honesty is a humiliation". Early in March this year, Khemka was posted as Principal Secretary in Haryana's Science and Technology Department and his next assignment is Principal Secretary, Archives, Archaeology and Museums Department, according to an official statement.

Khemka cancelled the mutation of a land deal in 2012 between Skylight Hospitality, which is linked to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, and major real estate developer DLF and this is when he came into the limelight.

Four years ago, during his another transfer moving from the state's transport department, Khemka tweeted "Tried hard to address corruption and bring reforms in Transport despite severe limitations and entrenched interests. The moment is truly painful," back then. The current transfers of fourteen IAS officers are of departments including Excise and Taxation, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Mines and Geology, Public Works, Civil Aviation, Industries and Commerce, Food and Consumer Affairs and Finance and Planning.

Honest people, be it anywhere have to face a lot of obstacles. In India, as we know the level of corruption is high and it increases drastically in administration. But officers like Ashok Khemka is strong to his ground and we believe his courage, determination and will power is helping him to withstand so many painful transfers. Netzines laud him for not compromising with his much-needed honesty. Moreover, Transfer is like a crown given to honest officers for having a hard-working mentality.
