Vikram made hard landing, confirms NASA

The American space agency, NASA has confirmed that the Vikram lander made a hard landing on the Moon and a couple of images were released in their Twitter handle. The images were captured by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) yet they could not find the exact location of Vikram lander.

The LROC passed over the landing site on September 17th which is located about 600 kilometers (370 miles) from the south pole in a relatively ancient terrain. However, NASA further said it will get clear images in October when the LROC flies by the same region in favourable lighting conditions.

Chandrayaan 2's Vikram lander was supposed to make a soft landing on September 7th. When the Vikram lander was just a few meters away from the Moon's surface, ISRO has lost contact and since then India's space agency is doing many efforts to get in touch Vikram.

NASA's latest statement literally says that Vikram crash-landed and Chandrayaan 2 mission is almost over. We have to wait till October as NASA is likely to come up with clear images.
