Indian Army boxers wins World Championships at Russia

It is indeed a proud moment as the Indian Army has once again made the country stand tall with its massive win at the Men's World Boxing Championship, which took place in Russia. Earlier too, the Indian Army has given us some legendary athletes like Milkha Singh, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Jitu Rai. All of them are no less of a powerhouse when it comes to winning medals, championships and accolades.

Subedar Amit Panghal, Naib Subedar Manish Kaushik, Havildar Sanjeet and Seargent Kavinder Singh Bisht, all four of them registered victories and secured their places in the quarter-finals. Subedar Amit Panghal defeated Turkey's Batuhan Ciftci 5-0 in the Men's Fly 52kg category. Earlier he had won a gold in Asian Games 2018 and a silver medal in Commonwealth Games 2018.

Naib Subedar Manish Kaushik, who is the ex-national boxing champion and silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games 2018 defeated Mongolian boxer Chinzorig Baatarsukh in the 63kg category to register a place in the quarter-finals. Also, Havildar Sanjeet Kumar defeated Uzbekistan's Sanjar Tursunov in the 91kg category to secure a  place in the quarter-finals.

Lastly, Seargent Kavinder Singh Bisht defeated Finland's Arslan Khataev in the 57kg category. The Indian boxers will fight it out on September 18 again and hopefully, extend their achievements a bit more by creating history.
