'I was asked to rehearse a kiss scene with a director'

Casting couch has been happening since time immemorial and only today's generation actresses are coming out bravely and making sure that their voices are heard louder. Be it any language or industry, victims suffer from subtle references to forceful sexual assault. After many actresses, Zareen Khan now has something to say about her nightmare experience.

Zareen is all set with her next release of Punjabi film Daaka. But she recalled her casting couch experience with one of the filmmakers early in her career. She was launched by Salman Khan in Veer and during the time, a director asked her to 'rehearse a kissing scene' with him so that she could 'let go off her inhibitions.'

After director insisted her to kiss him, Zareen told him, "What? I am not doing any kissing scene as a rehearsal." The 32-year-old actress also spoke her heart out in terms of her weight loss journey and people bullying her over it. She shamed all those who humiliated her while she was struggling to lose weight. Last month, Zareen was trolled on social media for posting a picture showing stretch marks on her stomach. However, the actress gave a tight slap reply to those who teased her.

Now, her casting couch remark is making people wonder who that director is. Moreover, the core issue is unarguably on the power structure, which is guided by patriarchal means. There should be openness in all workplaces and all people should be given an opportunity to voice any misconducts against them. Kudo to Zareen for speaking out.
