PV Sindhu Creates History: 1st Indian To Win World Badminton Gold

Indian badminton champ PV Sindhu has just scripted history at the ongoing World Badminton Championships in Basel, Switzerland. Sindhu has clinched the gold medal to become the first Indian ever to pull off this feat.

Sindhu defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets (21-7, 21-7) showing complete authority on the court. With this landmark victory, Sindhu has taken revenge over Okuhara for the defeat in the 2017 World Badminton Championship finals.

In a nerve-wracking finals, Sindhu rose to the occasion and displayed tremendous fitness levels and mercurial moves across the court and played shirt, aggressive shots. She won 8 straight points twice and completely outshined her opponent in the first set and continued her domination throughout the second set.

Fans, celebrities and the sporting bodies across the country are celebrating Sindhu's historic win and congratulated the golden girl from Hyderabad.
