Ravi Shastri Re-appointed As Team India Coach

As expected, the panel of selectors for picking up a coach for team India have preferred the current coach Ravi Shastri. The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy have held interviews for the coach role at BCCI headquarters in Mumbai

Mike Hesson, Tom Moody, Robin Singh, Lalchand Rajput, and former West Indies opener Phil Simmons were the six aspirants in race initially. Just before the interviews, Simmons pulled out of the race. Speaking after announcing Shastri's name, Anshuman Gaekwad said, Ravi Shastri knows team India's strength and weakness. Every member in the team has great rapport with Shastri too. So considering many factors, Shastri was given second term.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli too wanted Ravi Shastri. But the CAC did not consult Virat Kohli before announcing the name. This is yet another disappointment for Australian cricketer Tom Moody who is trying to become team India coach since 2007.
