Customer cancels Zomato order over Muslim delivery boy

In what could be a shocking episode, a man has cancelled his food order made on app-based food delivery service Zomato because the delivery boy was a Muslim. This issue has become a nationwide discussion but in the end Zomato has won the hearts.

The person who raked up this bigotry is identified as Amit Shukla from Jabalpur. Surprisingly he himself shared the screen-shots of the chat with Zomato support and got trolled brutally, eventually he deleted his account. Amit initially asked Zomato to change the delivery boy. In the chat he wrote, "We have shrawan (month) and I don't need delivery from a Muslim fellow." To this, Zomato replied, "Food doesn't have a religion. It is a religion" and clarified it can't change the delivery executive.

Amit had no other option to cancel his food which cost him Rs 237. Instead of realizing his mistake Amit went on to add that he is planning to sue Zomato and holding talks with his advocates.

Founder of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal defended his company's stand and added that "We aren't sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values." However, the delivery boy is severely hurt by this whole controversy. He added "I am hurt, but what can I do ... we are poor people."
