Vijay Sethupathi to play Muralitharan in biopic

Sri Lankan cricketer Muttaiah Muralitharan is the leading wicket taker in Test match cricket. He retired from international cricket in the year 2011 and now a biopic on him is announced.

Guess what it is going to be Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi who will be seen as the reel Muralitharan. To be directed by Sripathy Rangasamy, the cricketer Muralitharan has confirmed the news about the biopic and in his first reaction, he stated, "I’m honoured that an accomplished actor like Vijay Sethupathi will be playing me in the film."

Having debuted in the year 1992, Muralitharan claimed 800 Test wickets and 534 One-Day wickets. But Muralitharan's bowling action was in the headlines during his early stages of his career. In a match against England in Australia, the on-field umpires have raised objections over Murali's bowling action. Later the ICC has cleared his action as legal.

Murali has played for Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL.
