Trump's Remarks On Kashmir: Hot Debate In India

Other day while interacting with the press, both USA President Donald Trump and Pakistan's PM Imran Khan made some stunning comments. Kicking off a political storm, Trump stated that PM Modi requested him to mediate with Pakistan regarding Kashmir conflict. This resulted in a fight on social media, with diplomats trying to ascertain facts and right-left-centre mouths blasting each other.

As the Indian PM kept saying that Kashmira is a bilateral and internal issue and will not tolerate any country trying to poke their nose in, the opposition parties have launched a scathign attack on Modi as to why he has requested Trump to do that. However, it looks like there is no truth in what the US President has said.

The issue created a storm in Parliament today, regarding which the External Affairs Minister Jai Shankar clarified that PM Modi made no such request. Meanwhile, opposition leaders started demanding Modi to come to the parliament and clarify the comments made by Trump.

On the other hand, USA officials also got into the damage control mode as they shared with media that Kashmir is for India and Pakistan to resolve, and the USA will be only assisting of sorts.
