Telugu cricketer Ambati Rayudu is once again snubbed by the BCCI. The all-rounder Vijay Shankar who was ruled out of the on-going cricket world cup, is replaced with Mayank Agarwal. This has surprised many as Rayudu was on stand-by. When Shikhar Dhawan was injured, Rishab Pant was given a chance to keep the left-hand combination intact and now Vijay is out, everyone thought it would be Rayudu. But no.
The reason being is Rayudu's tweet. When the BCCI announced the world cup squad, chief selector MSK Prasad said Vijay Shankar is picked ahead of Rayudu for being a three-dimensional player. Mocking the selectors, Rayudu on the same day tweeted that he ordered 3D glasses to watch the world cup. The biggies of BCCI had sympathies for Rayudu for missing out in the squad and said they would not take any action.
Seems like they did not forget Rayudu's tweet and accordingly he is once again ignored. However, Mayank is a talented player as well. He debuted in Tests against Australia and scored two fifties on tough Australian pitches. Mayank is also had good domestic record in the limited overs and averages 48.71 with 3,605 runs. He is quick between the wickets and attentive in the field whereas Rayudu is a slow and steady batsman.
