Indian liquor tycoon and Bangalore based businessman Vijay Mallya was spotted watching World Cup 2019, India versus Australia match, today at the Oval, London. Mallya is currently facing extradition proceedings in the UK but netizens are surprised to see his guiltfree appearance and posing for the camera at the Kennington Oval in London.
Vijay Mallya told that he is there to watch the game and also claimed that he is preparing for the next hearing which is scheduled in July. He has been accused of defrauding 9,000 crore rupees. On this, the UK home office had ordered his extradition over charges of money laundering, fraud, and conspiracy. Known as an avid cricket fan, he also shares his admiration toward the sports on his social media platform. Today, his son, Siddharth Mallya posted a picture on his Instagram with father Vijay at a stadium. Vijay was seen happy and smiling and on the other hand, Siddharth lost oodles of weight, sporting a stylish look.
Netizen too pointed out their lavish lifestyle, satirically asking them to enjoy the life king size on the picture. A consortium of 13 banks - led by the State Bank of India (SBI) - has been preparing to initiate loan recovery proceedings against Mallya, who fled India for the United Kingdom in March 2016. Mallya became the first tycoon to be named an economic offender under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018 and he has been on bail since his arrest on an extradition warrant in April last year. The UK High Court will in July hear Mallya's plea challenging his extradition order.
