Heroine Wins Defamation Case Against Media

Congress leader Divya Spandana alias Ramya has won a defamation case against media houses Asianet News Network and Suvarna News 24x7 for allegedly linking her in IPL spot fixing. With this verdict, the media houses have to pay Divya a sum of Rs 50 Lakh.

Going into details, Divya was the brand ambassador of the IPL team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from season one to five. But the IPL spot fixing got exposed in the year 2013 which is the sixth edition of IPL. The above mention channels have aired and published news that Divya has a hand in the fixing reports.

Based on the media reports, Divya filed a defamation suit the same year i.e, in September 2013. She also submitted evidence to the court and claimed that she holds no association with RCB after the fifth reason. After six long years of arguments and hearing, a Bengaluru court has given its verdict in favour of Divya.

Reacting on this Divya tweeted, "Justice has been delivered and I'm relieved and grateful."
