The elections-2019 is continuously witnessing the entry of sportsmen, film stars, entrepreneurs, youngsters and people from different walks of life into direct politics. After Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir, Olympic champion Vijender Singh, Urmila Matondkar and others, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday morning.
The actor, whose popular films include Ghayal, Border, Jeet, Gadar and more, has joined the national party in the presence of Union minister Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman. Also, the party sources are indicating that Mr. Deol might be fielded as BJP candidate from Gurdaspur LS segment in Punjab.
At the time of joining BJP, Sunny Deol stated "I'd like to work with PM Modi ji like the way my Papa worked with and supported Atal ji. I only want my work to speak for me." Reportedly, Sunny is said to have sat down with BJP President Amit Shah for few minutes at an airport earlier this month and the meeting has played a key role in getting the 62-year old actor into BJP.
The actor, director and producer has received two National awards and 2 Filmfare awards. On the work front, he's lastly seen in 2018's 'Bhaiaji Superhit' and his next directorial 'Pal Pal Dil Ke Pas' is slated for release on 19 July 2019.
