Earlier, actresses Kangana Ranaut and Alia Bhatt had a tit-for-tat argument over nepotism issue. Kangana claimed that Alia is now a successful actress only because of nepotism encouraged by Karan Johar. Later, she also attacked Alia for having the huge age gap between her and her beau Ranbir Kapoor. Now, a fresh controversial statement has been made by Kangana and this time she criticized Alia's acting skills.
In one of the popular surveys, Kangana won the best actress poll with 37% votes for her performance in Manikarnika and Alia stood second with 33% votes. When asked about her reaction, Kangana said, "I am embarrassed. What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance? same snappy much phat girl... Bollywood's idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media have taken filmy kids to love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised."
Zoya Akhtar' film, Gully Boy, is considered as one of the successful films in recent time and Alia's work has been highly lauded by the public. The film was screened at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival, raking in a highly positive review from international publications as well. On the other hand, Kangana's Manikarnika got mixed reviews and her performance has been equally praised too.
Earlier, when Kangana blamed Alia for not attending the premiere of her film and how she is irresponsible for not voicing her views on politics and social issues, Alia responded that "I hope she doesn't dislike me and I don't think she dislikes me. I don't think I have done anything intentionally to upset her. If I have, I will apologize to her on a personal level".
