Remember superstar Mahesh Babu's 'Athidi,' Bollywood actress Amrita Rao made her Telugu debut with this film. Post that she did not feature in a single Telugu movie and a decade later she opened up what was the reason behind it.
Amritha in her latest interview with the popular English daily, she doesn't like the way Telugu directors portray heroines as if they are meant for only songs, glamour show and treated like objects. 'Those sought of characters are not my types. When I was working for 'Athidi' I received three offers from Telugu filmmakers. But I did not sign those films,' said Amrita.
She added she developed a good bond with Mahesh and his family during the making of 'Athidi.' 'I still remember Namrata sending specially cooked brown rice for my lunch when I was shooting in Hyderabad,' shared this 'Main Hoon Na' actress.
Amrita hadn't a good career in Bollywood as well. Now she is featuring in supporting roles. In Bal Thackeray's biopic 'Thackeray' she played the role of Meena Thai and her performance was well received by audience and critics.
Amrita happens to the second North beauty to make shocking revelations against Tollywood be it heroes or directors. Wonder when will this opinion on Tollywood will change!
