The estimated cost of damaged incurred with fire accident in Nampally exhibition grounds is Rs 40 crore and about 125 shops were gutted in this whole episode.
Though there was no loss of life, the owners of the shops staged a protest at the Numaish society on Thursday. The police stepped into action to calm down the protestors and there was a tense situation at one moment of time.
The Numaish society assured that it will reimburse the rent amount to the shop owners and is planning to shut down the exhibition for the next three days to remove the debris. The society is also considering to extend the number of working days. As per the schedule, Numaish will conclude on February 15th.
About 19 fire engines and 22 water tankers were used to bring down the fire. In the preliminary investigation, the police have come to an assumption that a cigarette has caused the fire.
