In order to help farmers' and their families socially and economically, a village cooperative society in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state has come up with a unique scheme.
Under 'Shadi Bhagya,' any girl who marries a farmer from Anagodu village, her bank account will be credited with Rs 1 Lakh. Generally in Uttara Kannada, girls prefer to marry software professionals or the ones having a government job and they are reluctant to tie knot with young farmers.
The scheme will start from April 1, 2019 but has terms and conditions. It is valid to villagers of Anagodu and the members of Anagodu Seva Sahakari Sangha (a cooperative society) and they should also be doing a transaction of Rs 3 Lakh annually.
