The New Year celebrations has reported a record sale of liquor in the Telugu states. As per the early estimates, nearly Rs 600 crore went to the treasury of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
On a normal day the revenue would be around Rs 50 crore but on December 31st the sales shoot up to Rs 130 to Rs 150 crore and in December month, the total revenue is Rs 1962 crore. The figures of liquor sales in Hyderabad are Rs 19.50 crore, Ranga Reddy district reported Rs 15.30 crore, Medchal region is Rs 11.90 crore and jointly Warangal district had sales of Rs 18 crore.
In Andhra Pradesh from December 29th to 31st, the revenue is Rs 288 crore though alcohol sales.
Pubs, bars and hotels have gathered alcohol from godowns well in advance for the New Year celebrations.
Meanwhile the traffic police who held a drunk and drive on 31st night, registered a total of 2090 cases. About 175 teams took part in the special drive and approximately thousands were detained by the cops.
However no unwanted incident has reported in Hyderabad.
