US Proposes Major Changes In H-1B Applications

US administration proposed major changes in H-1B visa applications and now with the new proposal, the most skilled, highest paid foreign workers have a fair chance to be awarded this American work visa.

In the recent proposal about the application process, a new rule requiring companies to electronically register the petitions of their beneficiaries in advance. The companies wishing to employ foreign workers should first electronically register with USCIS during a designated registration period.

65000 visas are the limit cap for a fiscal year and 20,000 petitions filed on behalf of beneficiaries with Master's degree or higher are exempt from the cap, giving an increase of 16 percent (up to 5340 workers) in the number of selected H-1B beneficiaries with a master's degree or higher from a US institution.

This new rule is expected to increase the number of foreign workers on H-1B, creating an advantage for those with US Masters or higher degree. This is proposed by the Trump administration as a 'more meritorious selection' according to DHS (Department of Homeland security).
