BJP MP Subramanian Swamy who moved Supreme Court and filed a petition to free Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) from Andhra Pradesh Government, faced a setback as the apex court rejected the petition. The petition was filed alleging that the Government of Andhra Pradesh has been misusing the TTD trust funds.
Stating that the TTD is an autonomous body and has a set of rules it abides by, the Supreme Court said that if the petitioner wanted to take the issue further, he should first approach the High Court. Swamy filed a writ petition in Hyderabad High Court today.
Following the sacking of TTD's head priest Raman Deekshithulu, BJP took up the issue at the national level to hit out at Andhra Pradesh Government. While the sacking of Ramana Deekshithulu created quite a storm in the state, we are yet to witness whether this move by Swamy will create another one for the TDP government.
