While Andhra Pradesh is turning out to be an Automobile hub with the likes of auto giants Kia Motors, Toyota, Honda starting their plants in the new state, now, Telangana too shifted its focus on to Automobile industry. Telangana, which had its focus on IT, Bio and Pharma industries, now attracting automobile companies as well. In a latest, Italian bike maker Benelli has signed an MOU with Telangana government.
It is said that initially, the group company would start assembling CKD (completely knocked down) kits of the bike in Hyderabad for Benelli and the partnership entitles Adishwar to assemble, manufacture bikes and import exclusive range of the bikes from Italy and SouthEast Asian regions.
According to Benelli's official statement, the Italian bike maker is currently selling about 2500 bikes in India and it is aiming to sell 10,000 bikes in the first phase. Once it reaches its target, the Italian bike maker is planing to start its production near Hyderabad.
Known as one of the oldest (established in 1911) Italian motorcycle-manufacturer, Benelli has presence in over 60 countries such as America, Africa, Europe and Asia Pacific regions. Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Ramarao assured the bike-maker of cooperation in setting up its facility near Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the first bike is expected to roll out in October this year and Benelli plans to roll out four or six models in the Indian market by end-2019.
