A slipper was hurled at Andhra Pradesh BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana during his rally in Kavali city, Nellore on Wednesday. As per police, the former state minister was not hurt. Kanna was reportedly participating in a party rally when the incident took place.
The miscreant who threw the chappal was identified as Gorripati Uma Mahesh, a TDP supporter from Tangutur of Prakasham district. He was immediately reined in by BJP activists who handed him over to police after thrashing him. After handing him over to local police, the BJP supporters have staged a protest outside police station by giving slogans against the ruling Telugu Desham party. The police officials have informed that they have registered a case against Uma Mahesh.
Earlier in the month of May, Bharatiya Janata Party's national president Amit Shah too faced similar protest from Telugu Desham party workers during his visit to Tirumala. This is one of many incidents which demonstrates the wrath of Andhra people against Bharatiya Janata Party for denying 'Special Category Status' to state.
