High Court Quashes Kajal's 2.5 Crores Demand

Few big starlets are known for their starry remuneration demands and Kajal Agarwal's name always sounds loud in that club. And then, she went to Court to restrain a hair oil company from using an advertisement she has done for them. Guess what, she has demanded 2.5 Crores as compensation as the company used the ad for more than a year.

Way back in 2008, when Kajal was still taking those puppy steps in the film industry, she has done a hair oil ad for VVD & Sons in Chennai, that markets VVD Coconut Oil. And then, Kajal lodged a petition in court that the company is using her TVC without permission and demanded 2.5 crores as compensation.

Other day Tamilnadu High Court, however, found fault with Kajal and stated that V.V.D. & Sons was entitled to use the commercial film for a period of 60 years, as per the Section 26 of the Copyright Act of 1957, as they happen to be the first owner of the material (ad). And they also strike off the petition where she demanded 2.5 crores as damage as the Judges felt there is no such damage happened.

This is the classic case of many actresses where they do every single ad that comes their way before rising to fame, and later lodge such cases demanding more money. In countries like the USA, the companies will later sue the actresses and these starlets end up paying millions for such faulty court cases.
