Impressed by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's schemes, three senior most Congress leaders have declared joining the TRS in the presence of KCR on Saturday.
All three senior leaders - MLC K Damodar Reddy, former MLAs E Krishna Reddy and Abraham (all from Mahabubnagar) sent letters quitting the party to Congress high command. They announced to switch the loyalties to KCR attracted by the recently launched Rythu bandhu scheme.
Irrigation minister T Harish Rao held secret talks with the three leaders for more than one month and succeeded in convincing them to join Telangana Congress. Another senior Congress leader DK Aruna tried her best to prevent the three leaders from joining TRs but in vain.
The joining of three leaders to TRS on a single day has come as a big set back to the Congress which was already struggling hard to survive in Telangana. KCR was also in touch with many senior Congress leaders from south Telangana districts of Nalgonda, Rangareddy and Mahbubnagar. Before the election, some more leaders are likely to join TRS.
