Sita Was Test-Tube Baby, Declares Deputy CM

Despite Narendra Modi's orders to BJP leaders and party functionaries to refrain from making weird statements on different topics, BJP leaders seem to be in no mood to take Modi's orders seriously. The latest is that none other than UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma's controversial remarks.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma declared that Sita's birth in Ramayana was proof of a "Test-Tube Baby Project". Speaking at a function to mark Hindi Journalism Day, Dinesh said, "Sita was born in a pitcher... must be some test-tube baby project at that time; when King Janak was ploughing his field, a pitcher was discovered and the baby found in it came to be known as Sitaji."

The video of Dinesh's comments have gone viral online. This is not all. Dinesh stated that Journalism existed since the times of Mahabharata. Citing Sanjaya's description of the Kurukshetra war to the 'blind' king Dhritarashtra who was then sitting in Hastinapur, Dinesh said, "If this is not live telecast, then what else is it?"

These comments of Dinesh have embarrassed the BJP which has asked him to retract his statement immediately. As soon as the video went viral, BJP leadership has responded in less than 24 hours and a senior party person has called Deputy CM to take his comments back.
